Collection: Youth Hockey Sticks

Youth hockey sticks are designed with slimmer shafts and lower flexes more tailored to kids. They usually feature flexes from 10-35 and have shafts under 50" tall. Many kids also start on wood sticks as they are cheap and can be cut to any size. The flex should be roughly half a players bodyweight or less. The top of the stick should be between a players chin and their nose while in skates, you can go between the nose and forehead out of skates. This allows kids to keep using the stick even if they hit a growth spurt. As long as they don't need to hunch over to use the stick, they will be fine. This is where the chin minimum usually comes into play.

Flex is the amount of force (pounds) it takes to bend the shaft 1". The lower the flex the easier the stick will bend and the snappier it will be. If a stick is too stiff, it will be harder to load (bend) the stick. The shaft of sticks bend to create a snap or whipping motion during the release of the puck. This increases puck speed and can also help lift the puck off the ice.

Curve: Stick blades are curved either left or right to help keep the puck in the pocket,  so it doesn't slip out. Different curves offer different benefits. Neutral curves like the P29/W03/P92 are jack of all trades curves. Aggressive curves like the P28/W28 are better for lifting the puck and quick shots because the toe is more aggressively curved and tilted back.
